Chet Edwards (Texas District 17) robocalls MisInformation to fool Republican voters
Two weeks before the election has always been “Democratic Dirty Tricks Time”. Here we go!
From a Bill Flores campaign email:
Dear Friend,
In the most desperate maneuver of his failing campaign, 20 year incumbent Rep. Chet Edwards (D-TX) is now attempting to suppress Republican voter turnout. In recent days, Rep. Edwards’ campaign has produced robocalls into historically Republican households telling voters that Early Voting ends on October 22, seven days before it actually does.
Congressman Edwards will stop at nothing to continue his 20-year political career, including outright voter suppression.
If Chet Edwards has any integrity, he will immediately stop the false robocalls and issue a public apology. There is absolutely no place for disenfranchising voters.
On the call, Congressman Edwards says, “Early voting begins this Monday, October 18 and runs through Friday, October 22.”
Chet wants working Republican voters to falsely think that early voting ends before this weekend, when they would have an opportunity to cast their ballot. This is shameful.
There is only one reason why Mr. Edwards would try to deceive Republican voters about their opportunity to cast a ballot this coming weekend and next week, he does not want them to exercise their right to vote.
Republican primary voters in the southern part of the District have notified our campaign that they received the calls.
You can listen to the false robocall here.
